10 Best cryptocurrencies worth buying
There is no doubt that Bitcoin has captured the lion’s share of the top and the best cryptocurrencies (CC) market. It is largely due to its fame. This phenomenon is much like what is happening in national politics around the world. It is just like where a candidate captures the majority of votes based on FAME. Rather than any proven abilities or qualifications to govern a nation.
Bitcoin is the pioneer in this market space and continues to garner almost all of the market headlines. This popularity does not mean that it is perfect for the job. It is fairly well known that Bitcoin has limitations and problems that need to be resolved. It is for no doubt the best cryptocurrency in the current market. However, there is disagreement in the Bitcoin world on how best to resolve the problems.
As these problems continue, it presents developers the opportunity to initiate new coins that address particular situations. This thus distinguishes themselves from the approximately 1300 other coins in this market space.
Let us take a look at the best cryptocurrency coin to invest in. Also, let us see what makes them different from each other:
Bitcoin is the first digital currency, which is electronically held. This means that it is not tangible like fiat currency (dollars, euros, yen, etc.). It was created cryptographically, and thus it is a cryptocurrency. Bitcoin runs on an open-source software and it is not controlled by entities. It is the most traded among all cryptocurrencies and is decentralized and not governed by banks or government.
2: Ethereum (ETH)
The Ethereum coin is known as ETHER. The main difference from Bitcoin is that Ethereum uses “smart contracts”. These smart contracts are account holding objects on the Ethereum blockchain. Only their creators can define Smart Contracts. They can interact with other contracts, make decisions, store data, and send ETHER to others.
The execution and services they offer are provided by the Ethereum network. Its all beyond what the Bitcoin or any other blockchain network can do. The Smart Contracts act as user’s agent. They obey his instructions and rules for spending currency and initiating other transactions on the Ethereum network.
3: Ripple (XRP)
This coin and the Ripple network also have unique features that make it much more than just a digital currency like Bitcoin. The Ripple Transaction Protocol (RTXP) Ripple was developed by Ripple. It is a powerful financial tool that allows exchanges on the Ripple network to transfer funds quickly and efficiently.
The main idea is to put money in “gateways” where only those who know the password can unlock the funds. For financial institutions, this opens up huge possibilities. The reason for that is it simplifies cross-border payments, reduces costs, and provides transparency and security. This is all done with the creative and intelligent use of blockchain technology.
Litecoin can be described as a peer-to-peer cryptocurrency that enables instant and zero cost payments to anyone in the world. If you’re familiar with the digital currency Bitcoin, the above definition might sound similar.
Litecoin is a cryptocurrency and its mode of operation is very similar to bitcoin. But the most notable differences are litecoin’s much faster transaction speeds, and 84 million token limit and a more memory intensive mining process.
The mainstream media is covering this market with breaking news stories almost every day. However, there is little depth to their stories… they are mostly just dramatic headlines.
5: Neo Coin
The Antshares (NEO) is a Smart economy it was established in August 2017. It started price was 14 US dollars now Neo coin price is 125 US dollars recently it was cross 188 Us dollars now this is my, one of favorite cryptocurrency. What a growth this coin has registered since its inception. We have hence listed it under “10 Best cryptocurrencies worth buying”.
6: Stellar XLM
Stellar is another cryptocurrency success story, having grown by 29,400 percent through 2017 alone. As an offshoot of Ripple, Stellar was launched in 2014 by Ripple co-founder Jed McCaleb and former lawyer Jouce Kim following internal disputes with Ripple. Stellar is a transaction network boasting efficient and fast money transfers across borders. The network is fully open source. CoinMarketCap tracked Stellar’s market capitalization at $10.5billion (£7.46billion)
7: NEO NEO
NEO NEO is a cryptocurrency which enables assets and smart contracts to be developed on the blockchain. Neo’s objective, while ultimately utilizing many of the same technologies as Ethereum, is to be the platform for a new smart economy. The cryptocurrency is similar to Ethereum because the two platforms share same goals and roles. But according to blockchain investor Noam Levenson, NEO is working towards developing a project of the future, in anticipation of future demands.
8: EOS EOS
EOS is a cryptocurrency built on blockchain network to dethrone Ethereum as the go-to infrastructure for decentralized apps. It was created by Bitshares founder Dan Larimer and revealed to the world at the Consensus 2017 event alongside and ICO launch. This coin was built to perform more transactions per second than Ethereum’s number, which was believed not high enough to support the ‘internet of things’ in the future. EOS boasts up to 50,000 transaction conformations per second, which would put it ahead of both Ethereum and VISA in terms of speed.
9: NEM XEM
The last but not the least, DigixDAO has gained respect in the cryptocurrency market. It has hence acquired a position in out list of 10 Best cryptocurrencies worth buying. It has registered a massive growth of 869.62% in the short span of two years.
As I said before, the top 10 list will see variations over time, but the permanent occupants are BTC, ETH, LTC and XPR. Do include them in your portfolio.
The Wild West show continues…
The wild swings continue with daily gyrations. Recently, we had South Korea and China the latest to try to shoot down the boom in cryptocurrencies.
Recently, South Korea sent cryptocurrencies prices temporarily plummeting when it’s justice minister, Park Sang-ki reportedly said regulators were preparing legislation to ban cryptocurrency trading.
Later that same day, the South Korea Ministry of Strategy and Finance, one of the main member agencies of the South Korean government’s cryptocurrency regulation task force, came out and said that their department does not agree with the premature statement of the Ministry of Justice about a potential cryptocurrency trading ban.
While the South Korean government says cryptocurrency trading is nothing more than gambling. And they are worried that the industry will leave many citizens in the poor house, their real concern is a loss of tax revenue. This is the same concern every government has.
China has become one of the world’s biggest sources of cryptocurrency mining. But now the government is rumored to be looking into regulating the electric power used by the mining computers. Over 80% of the electrical power to mine Bitcoin today comes from China.
By shutting down miners, the government would make it harder for Bitcoin users to verify transactions. This will force mining operations to move to other places. But China is particularly attractive due to very low electricity and land costs. If China follows through with this threat, there will be a temporary loss of mining capacity. It would result in Bitcoin users seeing longer timers and higher costs for transaction verification.
This wild ride is expected to continue, and similar to the internet boom, it is those who get in early who will prosper, while the mass investors always show up at the end, buying in at the top.
